How to Pronounce the Suffixes “-sion, -ssion, -tion”
I was asked how to know when the suffixes “-sion” and “-tion” were pronounced with a voiceless “sh” as “shin” /ʃɪn/ (or /ʃən/) or a voiced “zh” as “zhin” /ʒɪn/ (or /ʒən/). I didn’t know the answer off the top of my head so I looked it up and then organized the answer in a spreadsheet because you know I love spreadsheets. I hope this is helpful for you because it was interesting to me.
